„Personal distress“- Das Sorgenkind der Empathiemessung

„Personal distress“- The problem child within the empathy measure

Author(s) / Creator(s)

Abstract / Description

Personal Distress (PD) as a part of the empathy model is the probably most controversially discussed factor beside empathic concern, perspective taking and the fantasy scale. Although the influence of PD in many theoretical contexts (altruism, aggression, choice of career) is empirically well explored, psychometrical analyses show rather moderately to badly results in almost all studies; by the construction of an empathy score the PD-scale is not considered at all (Paulus, in 2012). In this article the role of the PD-scale is discussed in different theoretical contexts.
