Neuropattern - a new psychobiological method for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of stress-related disorders

Abstract / Description
The prevention, diagnosis and treatment of stress-related disorders is a real challenge for areas such as clinical psychology, psychotherapy, health psychology, and occupational psychology. Reasons are (a) the missing covariance between the psychological and physiological stress response, and (b) a tremendous intra-individual complexity of disease related factors, resulting in
broad heterogenity of causal mechanisms, even in patients sharing similar symptoms. Here, we introduce a new method which allows to assess the activity of
neurobiological interfaces, participating in the communication between the brain and the body under stress. In contrast to traditional correlational approaches,
this method has the focus on causal individual mechanisms, associated with stress-related disturbances and diseases. Thus, this new diagnostic tool clearly
facilitates decisions for preventive and therapeutic interventions.
