Abstract / Description

Provides an introduction to the ACT-R theory (Anderson & Lebiere, 1998) and its application to cognitive arithmetic. It is demonstrated how basic findings from this domain can be explained by interacting contributions of declarative and procedural knowledge, and by developing strategies. Relationships between these explanations and dyscalculia are discussed. The paper should be interesting for teachers and prospective teachers.
