Struktur und Funktion der Verantwortlichkeitsabwehr

An zwei Stichproben von insgesamt 1147 Probanden wurden Binnenstruktur, Stabilität, Bereichsspezifität und Konstruktvalidität der Neigung zu Verantwortlichkeitsabwehr (VA) untersucht. VA ist stark über drei verschiedene Gruppen von Benachteiligten (Dritte Welt, Gastarbeiter, Behinderte) und drei Abwehrstrategien (Notla-genleugnung, Selbstverschuldungsvorwurf, Abschieben der Verantwortung auf andere) generalisiert, enthält aber auch deutliche bereichs- und strategiespezifische Varianzanteile. Die relative Stabilität der VA über 18 Monate liegt bei .60. VA korreliert positiv mit der Geringschätzung von Benachteiligten, dem Glauben an eine gerechte Welt und der Bevorzugung des Leistungsprinzips, negativ mit Schuldgefühlen und einer positiven Einstellung gegenüber Benachteiligten sowie einer Präferenz für das Bedürfnisprinzip. Es fanden sich einige interessante bereichs- und strategiespezifische Zusammenhänge zwischen VA und den genannten Validierungskorrelaten.

The factorial structure, specificity, stability, and validity of responsibility denial (RD) was investigated in two independent samples (N=1147). RD is generalized strongly across three groups of disadvantaged (the poor in third world countries, foreign workers, the physically handicapped) and three different strategies (denial of exis-ting needs, perceiving needs as self inflicted, making others responsible for helping). Yet, substantial proportions of the variance of RD are specific to groups and strategies. Mean stability of RD over 18 months was .60. RD correlates positively with dis-daining the disadvantaged, with belief in a just world, and with a preference for the equity principle. RD correlates negatively with feelings of guilt and favorable atti-tudes towards the disadvantaged as well as with prefering need as a justice principle. Some interesting differences between strategies and groups regarding the correlation of RD with the criteria mentioned were found.
