Abstract / Description

Product design and development are critical activities for many organizations in ensuring their long-term survival. The requirements during this process are manifold and of great complexity (Pahl and Beitz 1996). Because considerable time and budget constraints are permanent companions, a primary concern is to minimize the duration of the design and development cycle, for example, by employing approaches such as simultaneous engineering.
